About:
Mrs. Mahon was born in Los Angeles, California, to hardworking Mexican parents. Some of her most meaningful childhood memories come from spending summers at her grandparents’ ranch in Zacatecas, Mexico, where she developed a deep appreciation for her Catholic faith, family, Mexican culture, traditions, and the value of hard work. Her calling to education was partly inspired by her parents and grandparents, whose opportunities to attend school were limited, and by a treasured first-grade Spanish book inherited from her grandfather, Don José Ruiz.
After college, Mrs. Mahon completed two backpacking journeys through Europe and Morocco. Meeting people and experiencing different cultures firsthand broadened her global perspective and strengthened her love of language and cultural learning. After working for more than 20 years as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, she became a Spanish teacher to help students develop confidence in the language and an appreciation for the Spanish-speaking world.
Mrs. Mahon is married and the mother of two children. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and celebrating her Catholic faith and Mexican heritage. As both a parent and Catholic educator, she understands the importance of supporting each student’s academic, personal, and spiritual growth.
