Dual Enrollment

IMPORTANT: This is a student-driven program, designed to help students build independence and gain a true college experience. We kindly ask that parents/guardians allow their student to complete each step on their own. In college because of FERPA, students are expected to communicate directly with staff and handle their own responsibilities, and this program is meant to help them practice those skills in a supportive environment. To support student growth, Mrs. Venegas will be only communicating directly with students rather than parents/guardians throughout this program. Thank you for your understanding and for encouraging your student’s independence!
 
What is Dual Enrollment? 
  • Dual Enrollment is when a high school student enrolls at a CA Community College at the same time in order to receive college credit and advance their higher education during high school.
  • One semester at a college is equivalent to one year at a high school.
  • You will receive an additional GPA point like an AP/H course if the final grade is added to your Aquinas transcript.
  • DE courses are beneficial for students hoping to enroll in the UC/CSU college system post-high school.
  • If you are hoping to attend a college out of state, please consider taking AP classes instead.
  • If you are hoping to attend a trade or community college, this is a great opportunity as well.
  • We have officially partnered with San Bernardino Valley College for this program. 
  • Tuition is waived, but fees and books/supplies are not.

  • Your DE grade becomes part of your permanent college transcript.
  • Courses are offered online and in-person. 
 
Eligibility:
  • Must be at least a rising freshman during summer to enroll for fall semester.
  • May enroll up to 2 classes per semester and will still be enrolled in 7 Aquinas classes
    • 3 classes over the summer only
  • Aquinas GPA must be at least a 2.5 unweighted. 
  • The college course selected is worth at least 3 semester or 4 quarter units (each). 
    • Courses that are less than 3 semester or 4 quarter units will not be added to the Aquinas transcript. 
  • Must enroll in a course that is UC/CSU transferrable if you are using these courses for high school graduation requirements.
    • Use Assit.org to see if a class transfers to the UCs/CSUs.

  • To be approved for more than one semester, the previous semester courses must be passed with a grade of C or better.
  • Dual Enrollment courses cannot be used to fulfill credit recovery requirements. 
 
San Bernardino Valley College - Official Dual Partnership - Currently Accepting Fall 2026 ONLY
  1. Create Account on CCCapply 
    • You must have at least an account created before coming to see Mrs. Venegas
    • Do NOT use your Aquinas email
  2. Start New Application & submit by June 15th
  3. Email Mrs. Venegas with your CCCapply confirmation number to receive your SBVC student ID
  4. Sign in to Self-Service

  5. Sign into your SBVC email & check your email daily
  6. Complete the SBVC Orientation through Self-Service 
  7. See Mrs. Venegas to complete your Placement through Self-Service by June 26th

  8. Submit the Dual Enrollment Student Intake Form by June 26th
  9. Submit the Dual Enrollment Request Form by June 26th
    • Once completed, your parent/guardian has seven days to complete the form emailed to them by SBVC 
  10. Fill out the Confidential Youth Emergency Card form and email a copy to Mrs. Venegas by June 26th 
    • This is different than the step above
  11. Add classes to cart through Self-Service
    • Make a note of what date/time you have been assigned to register

  13. Make an appointment with our SBVC counselor, Ms. Amairany Rivera, to make an Ed Plan.
  • If you decide to change/add to your courses to your initial request form, you will need to complete this form, at least 2 weeks before the class starts. 
  • Transcripts can be ordered HERE. Please email Mrs. Venegas a copy once you finish your SBVC semester.
