Over the years we have discussed how fortunate we were to have people in our lives who guided and formed us – our parents for sure, but more remarkably teachers who gave of themselves to prepare us for life. No doubt they could have focused on themselves, could have applied their talents to make more money or improve their own stations in life. But instead they chose to teach us, to help us, to give themselves to others. How could we ever repay them? We owe them a lot, but they are long since retired.
Today’s teachers at Aquinas are no less remarkable. They make about 70% of what they could make by teaching elsewhere, and yet they choose to teach at Aquinas because they are committed to more than just themselves. Although we cannot “pay back” the teachers who helped us, maybe we can repay some of that debt by paying it forward.
An endowment fund has been created to help sustain (and retain) the teachers at Aquinas. The endowment fund is quite small currently, but we have a tremendous opportunity to make it more meaningful right away.
Aquinas is committing up to $400,000 in matching funds for any donation to the Committed to Teaching Excellence Endowment. This initiative is designed to ensure our teachers receive salaries competitive with public schools while continuing to provide students with the most supportive and mission-driven Catholic educational environment. Every gift you make will be matched, doubling your impact in honoring our teachers and strengthening the future of Catholic education at Aquinas.
St. Thomas Aquinas...pray for us!
