About: Mrs. Whalen teaches World Geography and AP Art History. She has a background in filmmaking, fashion, and art history. She loves everything to do with visual world culture and finds that it intersects between many different fields. Between 2010-2011, Mrs. Whalen had the opportunity to serve eleven months as a student missionary in Malawi, Africa and has had a love of teaching ever since. After college, she spent three years as an independent filmmaker, traveling to Africa, Thailand, China, South and Central America, and Europe, working in documentary and narrative genres. Since 2020, she have been working as an independent art historian and has presented and published several pieces of original work at professional conferences and in peer-reviewed journals.
Her husband, Daniel, and she have twin five-year-old boys named Judah and Killian, and love to take them to the beach, playground, and pool. In what bits of free time she has, she enjoys painting, embroidering, thrifting, and reading.
