Ms. Horton is an Aquinas alumnus and has been in the field of education for 20 years, the last 15 of which have been with schools within the Diocese of San Bernardino. This is her eighth year at Aquinas. Her teaching experience includes primary, elementary, middle school, and high school. She has taught in the English and Ethics departments here at Aquinas but is currently a part of the Visual & Performing Arts Department, serving as the Yearbook Adviser. She is also the Asst. Academic Dean, which includes serving as a mentor teacher to new teachers, overseeing the AP program, and collecting data for the maintenance of the school's accreditation. Ms. Horton also serves as the Director of Campus Ministry. She has earned her B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Social Work and an M.A. in Education, Curriculum & Instruction from Chapman University. Currently she is in the final stages of writing her dissertation, which is a study about the use of iPad technology, as the final requirement for the completion of a Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in K-12 Leadership from Grand Canyon University. She has been awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award and the Distinguished Staff Award from the Diocese of San Bernardino. She is a member of NCEA, the ASCD, an Apple Teacher, and has a CA Catechetical Certificate. Her interests include educational technology, educational research, student centered learning, and preparing teacher workshops on topics in education.
