Admissions
The purpose of the Aquinas High School Scholarship and Financial Aid program is to ensure that a quality Catholic education is provided for students and their families at a reduced cost and to help them achieve the academic success that will enable them to gain admission to college upon graduation. All scholarship and financial aid decisions are done by Aquinas High School's financial aid committee.  FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment assists the school in this process.
 
  1. All families seeking scholarships or financial aid must fill out the online FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment online. Financial Aid applications will be accepted beginning on November 1, 2009.
  2. All applications must be submitted to FACTs by February 12, 2010.  All supporting documentation must be submitted to FACTs by March 12, 2010
  3. All families understand that they must pay a certain amount of tuition for their student’s education. 
  4. All scholarship and/or financial aid are for tuition only; fees and other costs are paid for by the family and are not covered by scholarship and/or financial aid.   
  5. The following are the kinds of assistance available to qualified students:
    1. President’s Scholarship: This scholarship is based on two criteria:
  1. Family Need (based on FACTS assessment)
  2. High academic achievement: Students must maintain a 3.5 GPA (weighted) or better in order to eligible for this scholarship.  Incoming Freshmen must also score in the 75th percentile or above on the STS Composite Placement exam.
  3. This scholarship will provide up to a maximum of 75% of the tuition cost in any given year.
    1. Principal’s Scholarship: This scholarship is based on two qualifying criteria
  1. Family Need (based on FACTs assessment)
  2. Superior academic achievement: Students must maintain between a 2.5 and 3.49 (weighted) GPA in order to be eligible for this scholarship. .  Incoming Freshmen must also score between the 74th and 55th percentile on the STS Composite Placement exam.
  3. This scholarship will provide up to a maximum of 50% of the tuition cost in any given year.
    1. Financial Aid: This is a grant awarded to qualified students who demonstrate the following:
  1. Family Need (based on FACTs assessment)
  2. Maintaining a minimum of a 2.0 to 2.49 (weighted) GPA . Incoming Freshmen must also score between the 54th and 46th percentile on the STS Composite Placement exam.
  3. This grant will be up to a maximum of 25% of the tuition cost in any given year.
  1. All scholarship and financial aid awards for current students are based on the 1st semester grades and all awards are tentative pending the verification of the 2nd semester final grades for the upcoming school year.
  2. Students must maintain their GPA for their assistance to be maintained.  If a student should fall below the requirements, their scholarship award will be reduced or withdrawn depending on the program for which they received the award.
  3. A student will be placed on financial aid probation if they receive an “F” during any quarter and the aid will be withdrawn if they receive an “F” for any semester grading period.  Reinstatement is not possible for the remainder of that school year and the family will be responsible for the full tuition for the remainder of the school year should this occur.
  4. All GPAs will be verified through the school’s academic counselors.
  5. For Freshmen/Transfer Students: All incoming freshmen or transfer students are eligible for financial assistance based on the same criteria.  Parents may submit unofficial records to the school for qualification in the three programs above. GPA verification will be done upon receipt of the student’s final grades in order for them to receive assistance from Aquinas High School for the upcoming school year.  
  6. All Families receiving Scholarships or Financial Aid are responsible for work study hours.  Hours are based on the amount of aid a family receives.  Seventy-five (75%) of the work study hours must be completed by then of the end 3rd quarter.  Families of senior must complete their hours by June 1 in order to participate in graduation.  All hours must be completed by June 30 of the year in which aid was given in order to receive aid in the following year.  Hours may be done during the summer for the upcoming school year.
  7. International Students (I-20) are not eligible for Scholarship or Financial aid.
  8. Parents will receive notification of any award or denial by April 1, 2009 and they must be registered by April 27, 2009. Scholarship and Financial aid decisions are final.  If your financial situation changes, after the decision is made, an appeal may be made in writing to the Principal.
